The strong, blocky shapes and the bold, clear colors go well together here. This is a piece I would put on my wall.

the more i look at this shot the more i love it!

the positioning is perfect. the main focus seems to be the pencil, but it's placed in the upper right, while its interesting reflection is centered (almost); this creates an interesting illusion.

the colors are what attract me the most. there seems to be nothing harsh or out of place. the wood (?) in the bottom left is like a color pallet for the rest of the shot. its direction sets the theme for the rest of the shot (the pencil, the reflection, etc), but it's playfully countered by the small black piece of wood (again, ?) which the pencil rests on.

the last thing i love about this is the texture. the liquid which the pencil reflects off of is smooth as anything, but leaves harsh little bubbles on the rim of the plastic bowl.

the border is perfect. just the right size
