I am an abstract artist (working on realism) and a conceptual photographer.
My photos are simple, maybe even minimal. I photograph things that make me happy and things that I want to remember- nothing extravagant. ___
What I love about photography is that each photo, even though it is only one small image, can speak volumes to a person viewing it. There is no need for words. Each of us, with all of our experiences in life, instinctly knows the meaning of the photo. And that meaning changes for everyone, there is no right and no wrong. What could be better?
Photographs show the human condition, the single most interesting subject on the face of the planet. Nothing is as complicated as humans and their emotions, and photographs document just that. A photo and a painting are really quite similar. An artist sees the world differently, as does a photographer- they are observers of their subject matter.
___
I don't understand why it is wrong to photograph artistic nudes, but it is alright to sketch and paint them. And I don't think that the people who complain about it understand either. Nobody criticizes Picasso for drawing nude females. The human body is the most natural subject and there is nothing wrong with admiring it.
